2022-05-31 13:01:00

Stratasys Ltd. announced that it has been named a NASCAR Competition Partner and has teamed with NASCAR to produce the first-ever 3D printed production parts to be featured across all NASCAR Next Gen cars. NASCAR teamed with Stratasys Direct Manufacturing to print a windshield air cockpit ventilation unit for the Next Gen car. The windshield air ducts were printed at Stratasys Direct Manufacturing in Belton, Texas on the SAF™-powered Stratasys H350™ 3D printer which is specifically designed for production consistency, a competitive and predictable cost per part, and complete production control for volumes up to thousands of parts. The parts were printed using Stratasys High Yield PA11, which is derived from sustainable castor oil. The new 3D printed parts provide NASCAR with enhanced performance, flexibility, cost savings and improved aerodynamics, and are being used by every team that competes in the NASCAR Cup Series. The parts are a culmination of nearly three years of planning, design, and development, as the Next Gen car underwent more than 37,000 miles of testing before its introduction at The Busch Light Clash in February. Stratasys has partnered with NASCAR teams for almost 20 years to support their endeavors to create highly competitive race cars, using 3D printing technology to support tooling, drill guides and now production parts.

Stratasys Ltd. Adds Two New Composite-Ready 3D Printers to F123 Series

2022-05-10 13:00:00

Stratasys Ltd. announced that the company has expanded its F123 Series™ of 3D printers with the introduction of the F190™CR and F370®CR 3D printers, plus new FDM® Nylon-CF10 material reinforced with carbon fiber. The new printers offer high stiffness and strength materials in a hardened machine ready for composite material printing. The new composite 3D printers are designed for manufacturers and industrial machinists to supplement traditional fabrication technologies with high-strength composite 3D printing. The printers help manufacturers produce end use parts faster and more cost-effectively, and are ideal for jigs, fixtures and workholding tools. The new 3D printers include integrated GrabCAD Print™ software that provides a simple and intuitive CAD-to-print workflow and includes advanced features to ensure successful prints. Stratasys also provides enterprise application connectivity through the MTConnect standard and its GrabCAD Software Development Kit. The composite-ready F123 Series printers include reusable build trays, a built-in camera for remote monitoring and a 7-inch control touchscreen. The F370CR printer also offers auto-changeover of materials, which means there is no need to interrupt a build to replace materials – a new canister is simply put in place and the build continues. Compared to comparable competitive printers, the Stratasys composite-ready F123 Series of printers offer more material availability, a larger build volume, soluble support options and a lower cost-per-build volume due to the large oven size. Further, the larger, fully heated build chamber of the F190CR and F370CR printers, coupled with the ability to use stabilizer walls, allows manufacturers to build taller parts than could be printed in competitors machines. Stratasys has also introduced FDM Nylon-CF10, a new composite material for the F123 Series printers that is over 60% stronger and nearly three times as stiff as its base nylon material. The chopped carbon fiber material is just one of many thermoplastic materials available for the F123 Series printers. When used with Stratasys soluble support, manufacturers have the ability to print any geometry without restriction. The F190CR and F370CR printers also support several other engineered thermoplastics.

Stratasys Ltd. Partners with ECCO to Innovate Footwear Manufacturing Using 3D Printing Technology

2021-11-15 21:00:00

Stratasys Ltd. announced that Danish shoe manufacturer ECCO is using Stratasys Origin One® 3D printing technology to accelerate product development, allowing conceptual footwear samples to be reviewed early in the development cycle using 3D printed molds and lasts (mechanical forms shaped like a foot) with resin materials from Henkel Loctite. Shoemaking is an incredibly manual process, but ECCO has worked to integrate innovative technologies into their shoemaking, allowing for increased automation and a more streamlined development process. One such innovation has been the Direct Injection Process (DIP). This process has given ECCO numerous benefits including an efficient and reliable method of securing the upper part of the shoe to the midsole. To help further innovate shoemaking and the DIP, ECCO turned to additive manufacturing with the Origin One 3D printer using Stratasys’ proprietary P3™ technology. ECCO is using the printers in their Portugal and Denmark development facilities to 3D print molds and shoe lasts for development purposes that match the quality requirements of their CNC-machined aluminum counterparts. The molds and lasts, printed from a photopolymer from Henkel Loctite, are faster to produce, and the new process costs significantly less than CNC machining aluminum. Stratasys partnered with materials providers to test a variety of resins that would meet ECCO’s needs, choosing a formulation from Henkel’s Loctite 3D Printing that was formulated to meet the specific requirements of the DIP process. The combination of Stratasys Origin One 3D printing technology and custom Henkel materials has given ECCO the ability to create shoe molds that endure thousands of shots with zero visible degradation. Further, the quality of the shoe produced using additive manufacturing technology is on par with those produced using traditional CNC machined aluminum molds. By 3D printing the DIP molds instead of machining them, a single pair of mold inserts can be printed overnight, significantly more cost-efficient than that of an in-house CNC machined pair of molds. This enables designers and developers to test functional shoes earlier in the development cycle, allowing product teams to confirm the fit and comfort of new styles. Further, branded customers can more easily place real production shoes, in more varieties, in the hands of their potential customers for feedback and pre-sale opportunities earlier in the shoemaking process. Finally, ECCO can now quickly produce mold inserts at the location that needs them, eliminating the need to ship heavy metal molds, reducing costs, and minimizing the risk of shipping delays or tariffs. For the wider footwear industry that want to take advantage of 3D printed DIP tooling, ECCO has several flexible routes to market with the ability to assist with every aspect of footwear manufacturing and mold making including engineering, part production, or licensing of IP.

Stratasys Ltd. Collaboration with Adobe Enables Designers to 3D Print Full-Color and Tactile Models Directly from Adobe Substance 3D Painter

2021-10-26 13:15:00

Stratasys Ltd. announced a collaboration with Adobe that gives artists and engineers using Adobe® Substance 3D Painter a workflow that allows them to easily turn digital 3D renderings into 3D-printed models using Stratasys PolyJet™ 3D printing technology - all without the need to employ additional software or outside processes. Adobe Substance 3D tools can be used to create renderings for applications such as games, films, fashion, architecture, product design and consumer packaged goods. When combined with 3D printing, Substance software can be used to create product prototypes and package designs that can then be translated to 3D printed objects on Stratasys PolyJet printers. Previously, Substance users would need to rely on additional external software applications or processes to prepare their designs for 3D printing – without these outside tools, designs would print without color or the texture created in the design software. Now, Substance users can seamlessly create, render and print their full-color models with physical textures directly from Adobe Substance to their Stratasys PolyJet printer. With the ability to include full color, material and finish (CMF) models into their design process, artists, designers and engineers can test various iterations of a product without added cost or time. By incorporating 3D-printed models into the product design process, artists, designers, and their customers are able to see, touch and interact with a product prototype in a way that isn’t possible in a purely digital world. This helps to ensure that the end product matches the original design intent.

Stratasys Creates First-of-their-kind 3D Printed Display Pieces for Paisley Park’s Newest Exhibition

2021-10-21 12:30:00

Stratasys Ltd. in collaboration with the design team at Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minn., has created a custom set of 3D-printed display pieces to showcase Prince’s expansive shoe collection in a new Paisley Park exhibit - The Beautiful Collection: Prince’s Custom Shoes. Paisley Park designers and museum curators worked with Stratasys to bring their designs to life by pushing the limits of what’s possible with 3D printing. The Beautiful Collection highlights approximately 300 pairs of shoes worn by Prince throughout his career. The Paisley Park team has thoughtfully displayed the shoes in a way that highlights Prince’s impact on fashion, performance, and popular culture. Placed in the center of the exhibit and built to display 11 pairs of shoes, is a baby grand piano printed using both FDM® and PolyJet™ 3D printing technologies. The piano is the first-ever 3D-printed baby grand piano and is composed of 45 individual parts fused together to create the final piece. All structural parts were printed in Nylon12 Carbon Fiber and non-load-bearing covers were printed in ASA Black material. Stratasys utilized the company’s Stratasys F900 3D printer and Stratasys Fortus 450 3D printer to print the structural parts. The keys of the piano were printed using PolyJet technology on the Stratasys J850 3D printer using VeroUltra White and VeroUltra Black materials – no paint was necessary to finish the keys. When designing the exhibit, Duff Eisenschenk, Designer for Paisley Park, wanted to ensure that iconic Prince elements were included in the exhibit. To highlight one such item, Eisenschenk designed the legs of the baby grand piano to be replica Cloud Guitars, one of Prince’s most iconic guitar shapes. Stratasys first took over 250 3D scans of Prince’s Cloud Guitar and processed the scans into 3D print-ready design files. The Stratasys design team spent over 60 hours from first scan to final files ensuring that each element of the guitar could be replicated through 3D printing. The guitars were printed on the Stratasys F900 3D printer using Nylon 12 Carbon Fiber, and the size of the F900 printer allowed the guitars to be printed in one piece, with each guitar taking over 60 hours to print. No detail was spared when finalizing the guitars; each piece included an exact replica “cloud” label printed using VeroVivid materials on the Stratasys J850. Further, the guitars were painted and fit with actual guitar tuning nuts, bridges and strings – making them not only visually appealing, but playable as well. In addition to the baby grand piano with replica cloud guitar shoe showcase, Stratasys also created the largest 3D printed polymer image on fabric of Prince. The nine-foot by nine-foot image is composed of 347,130 clear spherical cells with layers of color contained inside. The ability to replicate the photograph on canvas with such accuracy was due to the Stratasys J850 3D printer which can print more than 640,000 combinations of color, textures, gradients, and transparencies down to the micron level. The finished canvas was printed in 56 sections on 100% white cotton denim and hand sewn together. Stratasys’ direct-to-textile 3D printing was first demonstrated by designers at New York Fashion Week in 2019. The canvas features an image of Prince taken by Jeff Katz in 1992.

Stratasys Ltd. Introduces New Data Security Solution, ProtectAM™ to Enhance Cybersecurity of Additive Manufacturing

2021-09-30 12:30:00

Stratasys Ltd. announced that the company has introduced a new data security solution to enhance the cybersecurity of additive manufacturing as its role in government and defense applications grows large and more mission-critical. The new ProtectAM™ solution is the first in additive manufacturing to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The ProtectAM solution will initially be available for several industrial and large-format Stratasys FDM® 3D printers, which are frequently used by government customers to produce end-use parts and tools for applications such as aviation and ground maintenance applications. It is available for Fortus® 450mc™ printers effective October 1, 2021 and is expected to be available for F900® 3D printers by the end of the year 2021. Stratasys F370™ and F770™ 3D printers are expected to be added in the first quarter of 2022, with printers that use other Stratasys technologies beyond FDM to follow. In the future, the company expects to extend ProtectAM’s cybersecurity benefits to industry segments beyond government. The company developed its data information security solution to comply with the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency’s Security Technical Implementation Guide for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The release of the company’s ProtectAM system opens the company’s systems to new applications within the government that extend well beyond R&D settings. Furthermore, the company’s technology is built on the FIPS and Common Criteria government-certified foundation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so mission-critical digital files can be sent wherever they are needed fast and parts can be quickly 3D printed locally. Existing Stratasys printers are field upgradable with regular software security updates from the company.

Stratasys Ltd. Advances Shift to Additive Manufacturing At Scale

2021-09-13 12:00:00

Stratasys Ltd. continued to expand its ecosystem of materials to offer customers a variety of options across 3D printing technologies and solutions. The company announced new materials for the Stratasys H350™ and Stratasys Origin One™ 3D printers and a new Origin® Open Material License (OML) for the Origin One. The SAF™-powered Stratasys H350 3D printer is specifically designed for the mass production of end-use parts with consistency, and the ability to customize and control the production workflow. The H350 will initially utilize High-Yield PA11, a sustainable material derived from 100% bio-based castor beans. In addition, in 2022, PA12 (also known as Nylon 12) will be available for the H350. PA12 provides dimensional stability, chemical resistance and impact strength, and has been used across various additive manufacturing printing technologies for creating jigs and fixtures, tooling, and functional end-use parts. The company has further expanded its ecosystem of materials with two new materials by Henkel for the Stratasys Origin One. Stratasys Dura56 by LOCTITE® is a durable, impact-resistant photopolymer with exceptional surface finish and a low cost per kilo. The material was created to address applications with high material consumption and for functional applications where aesthetics and robustness are critical. Dura56 is ideal for end-use parts such as housings, parts with mating features, or class A surfaces. The second material for the Origin One printer is LOCTITE® 3D IND405 Clear,aone-part semi-rigid 3D printable clear photopolymer resin that provides smooth surface finish, good impact resistance and elongation. Parts printed in IND405 can be polished to an optically clear finish. The material can be machined, tapped and polished, and is ideal for microfluidic devices as well as guide overlays. Its qualities are most comparable to unfilled polypropylene. The company is also introducing the Origin Open Material License (OML) for the Stratasys Origin One system, which is expected to ship this year. With the Origin OML software toolkit, advanced print users and material companies will be able to develop, beta test, and experiment with custom workflows and new materials. OML users will have the ability to override light, temperature, force, velocity and pressure on a layer-by-layer basis for ultimate control over the print process. The OML is designed to help materials companies and super-users accelerate iterations of material formulations and push products to market in weeks, not years. Supporting Industry 4.0 with a growing software ecosystem: The GrabCAD Software Partner Program has added eight software partners so far in 2021, enabling company's customers to integrate additive manufacturing into their Industry 4.0 initiatives. Stratasys's management didn't make significant improvements to their EBITDA this period. In terms of the raw numbers, EBITDA was reported as -8.9, which represents a -12.3% change from the last period. This metric might have a 13.2 percent impact on companies in the same industry and with the same market capitalization. The company's EBITDA metrics highlight a difficult overall financial situation, which may, unfortunately, continue moving forward unless management makes significant changes. Therefore, their EBITDA component earned a score of 48. Also, Stratasys management did an underwhelming job managing revenue efficiency this past period. Stratasys's revenue efficiency is 636.5 according to the metrics in the current filing, which represents a 4.8% change from the previous report. Companies in the same sector and market capitalization will usually be affected by up to 7.4 percent by this parameter. Their free cash flow situation is more concerning relative to their peers and competitors. Its free cash flow movement, therefore, received a grade of 37. Also, Asset turnover metrics during this period were surprisingly weak. Their reported asset turnover metrics of 0.5, which represents a -3.9% change from the previous report. Companies in the same sector and market capitalization will usually be affected by up to 10.7 percent by this parameter.
