Jervois Global Limited Commits Further USD 3.6 Million to ICO Drilling

2022-06-24 00:02:00

Jervois Global Limited updated its progress on further defining the resource at its Idaho Cobalt Operations ("ICO") in Idaho, United States. Jervois Board of Directors has approved an additional USD 3.6 million for drilling to complete additional in-fill and first expansion drilling from both surface and underground platforms to further define and expand its RAM deposit within ICO. This will take total planned drilling footage in 2022 to 46,000 ft. The drilling campaign, expected to be completed by fourth quarter of 2022, will continue to reduce drill hole spacing in the resource planned for early production, and will target expansion down dip of the currently defined and known deposit. This program is a continuation of the previously announced USD 1.2 million program approved in February 2022, set to be completed in August of this year. This will improve ICO's resource model and used to develop a production block model for both short- and medium-term mining operations. Expansion of the resource is important if ICO is to operate for longer than its initial mine life, or at higher production rates than contained in the ICO Bankable Feasibility Study. The RAM deposit remains open at depth and along strike, and Jervois has confidence that there exists a strong potential of both resource and reserve expansion.

Jervois Global Limited Provides an Update on Progress At Its Idaho Cobalt Operations ("ICO") in Idaho, United States

2022-06-23 00:00:00

Jervois Global Limited provided an update on progress at its Idaho Cobalt Operations ("ICO") in Idaho, United States. Jervois expects to commence commissioning the plant at ICO in September 2022 with first ore through the mill in October 2022 and sustainable, full rate ore processing now forecast by February 2023. With detailed engineering, procurement and commitments all over 90% complete, final forecast capital expenditure to bring ICO into production has been revised to USD 107.5 million (from USD 99.1 million), an increase of ~7.5%. Project construction has experienced cost pressures due to the significant United States inflationary environment, which has been compounded in recent months due to contractor shortages, continued delays in the operability of an accommodation camp at site, and poor weather conditions across May and June. Due primarily to weather related delays affecting site installation, the accommodation camp will now only be operable in August. Mine development continues at ~25 feet per day. Planned increases to underground working faces, improved water management and road conditions, as well as additional personnel and mining equipment on site are expected to increase mine development productivity. Jervois and its mining contractor Small Mine Development ("SMD") remain confident in the revised mining production targets that underpin the capital cost update. Jervois is achieving infill drilling rates over 200 feet per day as part of a 19,000 feet underground campaign to decrease hole space aiming to enhance ore body knowledge. The drilling is improving the robustness of the resource model to generate a production block model for mining. The SAG mill, ball mill and crusher are each in place, and work continues with facilities construction and equipment placement. An official opening ceremony is scheduled at site for 7 October 2022 with expected participation of United States political leadership and Australian government delegates. As announced on 6 June 2022, Mercuria Energy Trading SA ("Mercuria") has committed an additional USD 75.0 million under a secured loan facility (the "Facility"), taking the total facility limit to USD 150.0 million. Jervois has elected to draw USD 25.0 million of this additional facility, taking the total balance out to USD 100.0 million. The balance remains less than the Maximum Available Amount currently available under the terms of the facility, which is based on Jervois Finland's eligible inventories and receivables. A maximum of USD 50.0 million is permitted to be transferred out of the Jervois Finland group of companies, for other general purposes in the Jervois Global group including, for example, for funding of the group's development activities in the United States and Brazil.

Jervois Global Limited Commences BFS for Refinery Expansion At Kokkola

2022-05-15 22:22:00

Jervois Global Limited announced it is commencing a Bankable Feasibility Study ("BFS") to expand production of refined cobalt at the Kokkola Industrial Park, Finland. Jervois' 100%-owned subsidiary, Jervois Finland, is a leading supplier of high quality cobalt- based products, with advanced technological capabilities, product quality and reliability, and a strong commitment to high environmental and sustainability standards. Jervois Finland has more than 50 years' experience in cobalt production at Kokkola, with a global customer base across rechargeable batteries, chemicals, catalysts, ceramics and powder metallurgy applications. The BFS will assess the potential expansion of Jervois Finland's production via construction of a new refinery that is proximite to the location of its current facilities in the Kokkola Industrial Park. Expansion is expected to be the addition of a minimum of 6,000 metric tonnes of annual cobalt refining capacity, and would be separate from Jervois' existing commercial relationships. An expansion of refining capacity is expected to be available in conjunction with forecast expansion of cobalt demand for the second half of this decade. Expanding Jervois Finland's production capacity advances the Company's strategy to become a globally significant supplier of speciality chemicals and advanced manufactured cobalt products into battery and other industries, alongside development of its Idaho Cobalt Operations("ICO") in the United States, which is due to commence cobalt concentrate production in third quarter of 2022. Jervois has also recently announced the outcome of the BFS for the Stage 1 restart of the São Miguel Paulista ("SMP") Nickel and Cobalt refinery in Brazil, which Jervois is in the processing of acquiring. Jervois Finland's flexible downstream platform in advanced cobalt material production capacity represents a unique advantage. The refinery will be physically connected to Jervois Finland's existing advanced manufacturing plants, to allow greater optimization of existing product line capacity at both the powder and chemical plants. Jervois Finland has finished product capacity of 11,000 metric tonnes per annum of contained cobalt. Higher refined production will lead to greater flexibility to adapt to end user demands, and to continuously optimize product mix. Jervois Finland's existing ESG framework, including responsible sourcing, will cover the expanded refinery operations and input requirements. Kokkola's proposed expansion will lead to Jervois' increased participation in circular "closed loop" recycling, where cobalt material is used by customers and returned to Jervois Finland for regeneration. About 10-15% of the cobalt inputs are anticipated to be received as recycled units, similar to the ratio currently being processed in Jervois Finland's existing operations. Expansion timing will be determined under the BFS, but will not require any near-term material financial investment for Jervois. Technical partner selection processes in Finland are underway, covering key workstreams such as flowsheet piloting, process engineering and environmental and other permitting. Initial commercial discussions with both final product customers and refinery feed suppliers (including recyclers) are also underway.

Jervois Global Limited Approves Underground Drilling Campaign at Idaho Cobalt Operations in Idaho, United States

2022-01-30 21:36:00

The Board of Directors of Jervois Global Limited has approved an initial in-fill drill programme at Idaho Cobalt Operations in Idaho, United States, commencing in first quarter 2022. During 2022, Jervois is planning a drill programme from both above and below ground. The initial underground section of this plan is to improve the robustness of the resource model that will be generating a production block model for mining start up later this year. Planning is also underway to determine what resource extension targets can be drilled from underground positions. Jervois has committed USD 1.2 million to complete approximately 5,800 metres of underground drilling at its RAM deposit within ICO. The in-fill drilling campaign across 2022, will reduce drill hole spacing in the underground resource ahead of first production later this year. Underground drilling is expected to commence later in first quarter 2022. Whilst not part of this initial approval, Jervois's team at ICO is also planning a resource expansion drill programme from surface between April to November 2022, when site conditions permit. Expansion of the resource is important if ICO is to operate for longer than its initial mine life, or at higher production rates than contained in the ICO Bankable Feasibility Study. The RAM deposit remains open at depth, and Jervois has confidence that there exists a strong potential of resource and reserve expansion. Further details on this additional programme will be advised once finalized and approved by Jervois's Board later in first quarter 2022. Small Mine Development, a regional underground mining contractor engaged at ICO, continues below surface development. Construction is on schedule and the first underground drilling bay was delivered during the month of January. First ore at ICO is anticipated for August 2022 and Jervois expects to reach sustainable commercial production from December 2022.

Jervois Global Limited Provides Update on Progress on Construction At Its Idaho Cobalt Operations in Idaho, United States

2021-11-22 00:00:00

Jervois Global Limited announced a update on its progress on construction at its Idaho Cobalt Operations in Idaho, United States. To date, approximately three quarters of all equipment and material for the project is now committed. Jervois has committed more than USD 36.0 million of the Board approved capital budget of USD 92.6 million towards equipment, materials and labour costs both onsite and for detailed engineering. Jervois has ordered all long lead items for the process plant, which are expected to begin arriving onsite from December. Mining camp units are anticipated to arrive late December upon receipt of necessary permits, with kitchen and supporting units expected to arrive on site in February 2022. The delay in camp commissioning will decrease productivity through the winter in order to ensure workforce safety. Together with EPCM M3 Engineering, the project team led on site by ICO Project Director Mike Romaniuk is undertaking a detailed review of the construction schedule. The date of commissioning in the second half of 2022 is expected to be increasingly influenced by weather conditions of the current winter construction season. This updated project schedule will then underpin completion of a cost to complete test by Independent Engineer RPM Global, whom is engaged under the terms of the previously announced USD 100 million Senior Secured Bond, ahead of the first USD 50 million drawdown. Jervois Global Limited Delivers First Blast of West Portal At Idaho Cobalt Operations

2021-10-18 23:08:00

Jervois Global Limited announced that underground construction of its 100%-owned Idaho Cobalt Operations ("ICO") in the state of Idaho, United States, has commenced. This historic step marks the first time in decades that the United States will have a primary cobalt mine within its borders. With Jervois's commencement of underground work, the United States has taken an important leap forward toward a secure cobalt supply chain. The Biden Administration recently discussed the perilous situation faced by the United States related to cobalt in its high-profile review of supply chain vulnerabilities. Jervois looks forward to continuing its work with political leadership in the United States, particularly with Governor Brad Little to consolidate on strong support received by the Company from Idaho and its congressional delegation. Cobalt is a crucially important material for both defense and civilian applications. The electrification of the United States and global transportation sectors are currently and expected to continue driving exceptional cobalt demand growth. Jervois Global is committed to building an ethical, sustainable and secure Western alternative to the current cobalt supply chain, and to working with its diverse customer base across a wide range of key strategic industries in the United States, Europe and Japan. Over the last three months portal bench construction and extension work has been conducted as part of the early works package which has enabled the mine to start in fourth quarter of 2021. Construction consisted of highwall exposure and cut and fill and compaction during third quarter of 2021, completed by local contractor Scarrow Excavation. Western United States underground mining contractor, Small Mine Development ("SMD"), completed bolting and meshing of the highwall above the east and west portal as well as the installation of a rock fall fence to protect critical infrastructure. Initially a 2-foot advance blast was initiated on the west portal. The blast was designed to protect the portal face as part of the development of the mine. Prior to the blast, a 62-foot advance pilot hole was drilled and confirmed dry, reaffirming the decision to initiate development of the early works construction to access the RAM deposit, the initial orebody underpinning Jervois's published Bankable Feasibility Study ("BFS") on the development of ICO in September 2020. First ore is anticipated to be reached in first quarter of 2022.

2021-09-26 23:41:00

Jervois Global Limited Expands Scope of Sao Miguel Paulista Refinery BFS

2021-09-26 23:33:00

Jervois Global Limited announced that it is revising the scope of the Bankable Feasibility Study ("BFS") for the São Miguel Paulista ("SMP") nickel cobalt refinery in São Paulo, Brazil that is underway. Jervois is revising the scope of the SMP BFS led by Ausenco to accommodate technical expertise the Company has gained through its recent acquisition of Freeport Cobalt (now Jervois Finland), and current nickel market conditions. Due to strong demand for mixed nickel-cobalt hydroxide products ("MHP") from China's nickel sulphate refineries, current payables are unfavourable for converting this feedstock into electrolytic nickel and cobalt metal (the "Tocantins" product formerly produced at SMP). As such, Jervois will work with Ausenco and lead process engineer, Metso-Outotec, on optimising the scale of the pressure oxidative ("POX") autoclave to be constructed in front of the existing SMP circuit, to accommodate materials produced by Jervois' Idaho Cobalt Operations ("ICO") and other sulphides such as concentrates, mixed sulphides and mattes, in addition to the hydroxide and carbonate feeds the refinery can already accommodate. Increasing POX capacity will lead to higher capital cost but improved economics due to benefits on metal recovery and operating costs, together with greater feed flexibility (in addition to sulphides, the POX will be able to process material from lithium ion batteries known as "black mass" and other recycled materials). The POX will also act as an effective debottlenecking initiative assisting Jervois to reach previous SMP capacity levels. Final SMP product is also under review in conjunction with Jervois Finland with a view to switching product to nickel sulphate rather than metal. Nickel sulphate is trading at a significant premium to metal, a trend that Jervois' commercial team expects to continue due to the volume of nickel sulphate forecast to be derived from metal dissolution to satisfy global demand growth in battery markets.

All activities at ICO adhere to the USFS and Environmental Protection Agency requirements. The site is environmentally permitted with an approved Plan of Operations. ICO will comprise a 1,200 short tons of ore per day ("stpd") mill and concentrator to produce separated cobalt and copper concentrates. Gold mineralisation in the mine reserve at ICO will largely report to the cobalt concentrate and will be recovered at São Miguel Paulista ("SMP") refinery in Brazil, subject to Jervois completing its SMP acquisition and successfully restarting the refinery in stages during 2022 and 2023 . Copper concentrates will be sold into North American markets. Tailings will either be placed back underground or filtered and safely placed in a dry stack waste storage facility.

Cash Flow Analysis

A deep look into Jervois's cash flow metrics showed some disappointing metrics. The most troubling factors we're looking at are Capital Expenditure and Net Cash Flow. Jervois's management did not a remarkable job this period managing capital expenditures (CapEx). In terms of the raw numbers, CapEx was reported as -60.2, which represents a -81.3% change from the last period. This performance is all the more uninspiring relative to their peers and competitors. Consequently, their CapEx movement received a grade of 38. Also, Jervois's management was not successful in meaningfully improving their cash flow metrics. As of the current filing, they were reported as 76.7 and represented a 202.1% change from the previous period. Jervois's net cash flow metrics are especially disappointing relative to their peers. Its net cash flow, therefore, received a grade of 43. However, we can draw some encouragement from Jervois's momentum in cash flow management. Jervois is doing a remarkable job of keeping its asset turnover under control. At filing, their asset turnover metrics were 0.6, representing a 88.7% change from the previous period. Companies in the same sector and market capitalization will usually be affected by up to 3.4 percent by this parameter. Their asset turnover numbers are significantly more impressive when contrasted against their peers and competitors. Therefore, its asset turnover movement earned a score of 82. Therefore, it received a cautionary score of 54.
