Business Description
Entegris develops, manufactures, and supplies microcontamination control products, specialty chemicals, and advanced materials handling solutions in North America, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia. It operates in three segments: Specialty Chemicals and Engineered Materials (SCEM); Microcontamination Control (MC); and Advanced Materials Handling (AMH). The SCEM segment offers high-performance and high-purity process chemistries, gases, and materials, as well as delivery systems to support semiconductor and other advanced manufacturing processes. The MC segment provides solutions to filter and purify critical liquid chemistries and gases used in semiconductor manufacturing processes and other high-technology industries. The AMH segment develops solutions to monitor, protect, transport, and deliver critical liquid chemistries, wafers, and other substrates for application in the semiconductor, life sciences, and other high-technology industries. The company’s customers include logic and memory semiconductor device manufacturers, semiconductor equipment makers, gas and chemical manufacturing companies, and wafer grower companies; and flat panel display equipment makers, panel manufacturers, and manufacturers of hard disk drive components and devices, as well as their related ecosystems. It also serves manufacturers and suppliers in the solar industries, electrical discharge machining customers, glass and glass container manufacturers, aerospace manufacturers, and manufacturers of biomedical implantation devices. Entegris was founded in 1966 and is headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts.
Sector Overview
Entegris is included in the Semiconductors & Semiconductor Equipment according to GICS (global industry classification standard). The Semiconductors & Semiconductor Equipment industry is part of the Information Technology sector. It includes manufacturers of semiconductors, semiconductor equipment, and related products. Entegris's industry and sector affiliation are expected to negatively affect their likelihood to overperform the market in the upcoming period, as other sectors appear more likely to benefit from the macroeconomic environment we see now.

The below chart reflects Entegris's birds-eye view on its performance with respect to its peers, the company's fillings as reported or to a similar industry, market cap, and country of origin. While Entegris's peer average final assessment score stands on 71.0, Entegris's score is 70.
When trying to optimize the timing of an investment, it's critical to analyze whether the stock looks overbought or oversold, and in which direction the momentum is moving. Entegris's stock is now priced above its 5-day, but below its 50-day and 200-day moving average, while its MACD (moving average convergence divergence) indicates that the stock's price movement momentum is weakening. Historically, this is a positive setup in the near-term. Meanwhile, looking at the Stochastic Oscillator and RSI (relative strength index), Entegris's stock indicates that it's likely oversold. Overall, these technical indicators signal negative momentum. Therefore, this stock received a cumulative TA (technical analysis) score of 52.
Two metrics jump up as the most significant positive drivers of the balance sheet strength in Entegris's recent report: Book Value Factors and Equity. Entegris's price to book ratio (P/B) was reported as 7.8 and represents -29.2% change from the previous report. These book value factor numbers show that management has been prudent in focusing on efficient growth. We believe the stock price has room to grow to reflect its intrinsic value accurately. Therefore, its book value factors earned a score of 79. Also, Entegris did a great job related to equity this period, which stood at 1820.3, representing a 6.2% change. This parameter often affects companies in the same industry and market capitalization by up to 4.3%. This performance is significantly more impressive than its peers and competitors. The company's equity movement component, therefore, received a grade of 75. That said, one metric, Cash & Equivalents, stood out as particularly concerning. Entegris did a poor job related to managing cash and cash equivalents this period, which stood at 352.7, representing a -12.4% change from the previous filing. The company's cash and cash equivalents metrics highlight a difficult overall financial situation, which may, unfortunately, continue moving forward unless management makes significant changes. Discouraging results like these statistically lead to negative pressure in stock prices, so we rated their cash and cash equivalents with a score of 55. The company's balance sheet received an overall score of 70.
